Sec. School, Kota, Dist. Bilaspur on 22nd February 2012 by ELT@I
Bilaspur Chapter. The Resource Persons were Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam, Dr.
Devasree Chakravarti, Mr. Rakesh Digraskar, Mrs. Sumita Goel and Ms.
Padma Mani.
Dr. Ghanshyam through power point presentation cleverly described the importance of English in the present scenario and skillfully motivated the students to understand that English is not at all a difficult subject. He narrated various anecdotes and examples to make the students understand the nuances related to English Language.
Mrs. Sumita Goel conducted some activities of English to make the students feel relaxed in the class of English. She dealt with soft skills in the session.
Dr. Devasree Chakravarti spoke on the importance of Communication Skills and told the students to communicate in English.
Mr. Rakesh Digraskar requested the teachers of English to change their teaching style and include activities in teaching and learning of English.
Ms. Padma Mani motivated the students to use English in their day today life.
The
resource persons dealt on various aspects of English Language
Teaching to make the students aware of the fact that English is in air
and everywhere.

A workshop for the teachers of English was organised at Pt. Ram Dulare Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Sarkanda on 16th July by ELTAI, Bilaspur Chapter.
About 30 teachers from various schools attended the workshop. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Shivaji Kushwaha, Teacher Trainer, SCERT, Raipur, who is the President of ELTAI, Bilaspur Chapter.
Various group activities related to communication, speaking, thinking, memory and listening were conducted during the workshop. Mr. Kushwaha narrated the need of making English as easy as possible by involving ourselves into various creative activities. The teachers were divided into groups on the basis of their month of birth and were asked to do various group activities. These activites were summed up by the team leader at the end.
Speaking on this occassion Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam, Co-ordinator of ELTAI, Bilaspur Chapter told that ELTAI is a platform for all the teachers and lovers of English to interact with each other on various issues related to English learing and teaching. He has given a detailed information about ELTAI.
Mr. Anil Tiwari, Principal, Pt. Ram Dulare Govt. Hr. School, Sarkanda said that the teachers of English must take advantage of this kind of workshops and must learn new innovative methods of teaching English to their students. He congratulated ELTAI, Bilaspur Chapter for organising workshop in the school and has given his consent to organise various activities in future too.
Mrs. Usha Chandra, Lecturer in English was instrumental in organising the workshop. Dr. Preran Hiradhar, Dr. Devasree Chakravarti and Ms. Shrutika Chandranahu have made this programme a grand success.
Workshop for Students: (ASEL English Coaching Centre, Bilaspur)
A Workshop on "Spelling", "Body Language" and " Communication Skills" was organised at ASEL Coaching Centre, Bilaspur on 9th July 2011 by ELTAI, Bilaspur Chapter.
In the workshop on "Spelling" Dr. Devasree Chakravarti, Secretary of ELTAI, has told the students to concentrate on their listening ability and produce the word in the same manner. This habit will minimize the errors in spellings. She said that English is a hybrid language and many words in English are of different origin. She suggested the students to keep distance from the SMS and Chat language as it is killing our spellings. Various activities related to spelling were conducted during the workshop in which students have taken active participation.
The Second workshop on "Body Lanaguage" was conducted by Dr. Prerna Hiradhar, Head, Dept. of English, Delhi Public School, Bilaspur. She has told the students how body language helps in our betterment. Through power point presentation, she has described about the gesture, posture, eye contact and body movement. She has cited various examples through which the students have understood the shortcommings in their personality. Various activities related to Body Language were conducted during the workshop.
Both the workshops were liked by the students and the there was a great demand to organise this kind of events in future too.
Workshop for Students:
A Workshop on "How to overcome the Fear of English" was organised by ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter in association with ASEL Coaching, Bilaspur on 2nd July 2010. The workshop was conducted by Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam, Professor of English and Co-ordinator of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter. Speaking on this occasion Dr. Ghanshyam said that English is as easy as our mother tongue and in our daily life we speak numerous words of English. We even donot know the mother tongue for various words of English. These English words come so naturally to us that we donot even notice that we are speaking English. Dr. Ghanshyam has compared both English and Hindi and made the students to understand that English is easier than Hindi as Hindi comprises of 52 letters whereas English has just 26. English is the language of SVO whereas Hindi is the language of SOV.
