Felicitation Programme
· Mr. Shivaji Kushwaha was honoured
by ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter on 27.10.13 at Khalsa School, Bilaspur (C.G.) Mr. Tapas Mukherjee of Bhilai Chapter and Mr.
Dhanesh Sinha of Rajnandgaon Chapter were also present on the occasion.
· A felicitation programme to
felicitate the newly selected Assistant Professors of English conducted by
Chhattisgarh Public Commission, Raipur was organized.
Dr.
Devasree Chakravarti of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter stood First in the Merit List of
Assistant Professor of English.
Achievements:
· Shivaji Kushwaha offered Fellowship
by British Council to do M.A in TESOL from Lancaster University, England for a
year.
· Dr.G.A.Ghanshyam
delivered lecture as “Resource Person” at Chhatrapati Shivaji Institute of
Technology, Durg (C.G.) in the All India Conference on “Innovative Trends in
Indian English Literature and English Literature and English Language” from 25-26 April 2014.

Dr.
G.A.Ghanshyam delivered lecture as “Resource Person” at Smt. M.M. Shah Mahila
Arts College, Kadi, North Gujrat in the UGC Sponsored National Seminar on “Teaching of English Language Today” from 3-4
January 2014.

Dr.
G.A.Ghanshyam Chaired two paper reading sessions at SRM University in the 8th
International and 44th Annual Conference of ELT@I from 18-20July 2013.

A Report of the activities of ELT@I
Bilaspur Chapter
From 24th January2010 to 18th
july 2012
ELTAI
Bilaspur Chapter rejuvenated on 24th January 2010 after a gap of
many years. The confluence of teachers representing different background and
the lovers of English has paved the way to hold academic discussions in the
meetings. ELTAI, Bilaspur Chapter wanted a platform to stand on and conduct
various activities related to teacher development. ASEL English Coaching Centre
joined hands with ELTAI to promote the aims and objectives of ELTAI in the
region. ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter is a platform for the teachers of English of all
levels irrespective of their status and institution to uplift the existing
standard of English in Chhattisgarh. In this highly competitive and globalized
world it becomes necessary for a teacher to be updated all the time to meet the
demands of the society. ELTAI, Bilaspur Chapter organizes monthly meetings to
discuss various problems related to teaching and learning of English language
and literature. In the meetings members are motivated to take up various
burning issues related to teaching and learning of English language through
power point presentations. ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter is committed to link, develop
and support English language teaching professionals in the area. The chapter is
devoted towards the betterment of English teachers and would like to make them
innovative and instrumental in bringing up the change in the mode of
traditional teaching.

Road Show on 10th December 2011 in collaboration with British
Council in which 323 teachers of English were actively participated.

Instrumental
in motivating people to open ELTAI Chapters in their respective areas.
Raipur, Durg, Pendra Road, and Ujjain
chapters are the result of it.

Organised
workshops for students in various colleges and schools to promote English
Language among the learners.

Organised
workshops for teachers of English at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School, Sarkanda,
Bilaspur and at the training of RMSA (Rastriya Madhyamik Shikha Abhiyan),
Bilaspur.

in the National Conference held on 18-19 Jan. 2012 at M.L.S. Govt. College,
Seepat, Bilaspur (C.G.)

Brought
our first ever flyer of ELTAI Chapter.

Conducting
English Classes everyday for the students of SC/ST hostels in collaboration
with Vanvasi Kalyan Samiti, Bilaspur (C.G.) as social service.
Ø ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter is
active enough to plan for the academic activities in the monthly meeting.
Members of the chapter have presented papers/power point presentations on
various topics related to English Language Teaching and Learning.
Ø Workshop on Creative Writing and Learning English through Games was
conducted by Mr. Shivaji
Kushwaha.

On 2nd May 2010 ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter felicitated Dr. Meeta Ajay Khanna, Dr.
Prerna Hiradhar and Dr. Raj Rekha Singh, the members of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter who
have been awarded Ph.D. degrees in English by Guru Ghasidas University,
Bilaspur.

Newsletter of the Chapter was released by Prof. C.B.S. Chowhan, Patron of
the Bilaspur Chapter on 2nd May 2010.

ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter in association with ASEL English
Coaching Centre, Bilaspur has organized One
Day Workshop on 11th July 2011 for the students of ASEL on
Personality Development, Spellings and Pronunciation. It was a grand success
and has boosted the morale of the chapter.

One
Day Workshop for the teachers of English was conducted at Pt. Ram
Dulare Hr. Sec. School, Sarkanda, Bilaspur on 23rd July 2011. Mr.
Shivaji Kushwaha and Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam have taken up various issues related to
language teaching and learning as a resource persons. Activity based learning
was promoted among the teachers. About 50 teachers took part in the workshop.

Mr. Shivaji Kushwaha, Mrs. Neeta Johar and Dr.
G.A. Ghanshyam have actively participated in the ELT@I Chapter Leadership Development Workshop organized by British
Council in collaboration with ELT@I at New Delhi on 16-17 April 2010. Bilaspur
Chapter has won prize in Quiz Competition.

One
Day Workshop on Body Language, Communication Skills and Personality Development
was conducted by ELT@I in association with Vanvasi Vikas Samiti, Bilaspur at
Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Bilaspur on 12th September 2011 for SC and
ST students. This full day workshop was one of its kinds in terms of
quality, time management, organization and betterment of the students. 100
students of under graduate and post graduate classes have actively participated
in this workshop. Mr. Vivek Joglekar, Mrs. Shubhda Jogelkar, Dr. Prerna
Hiradhar, Dr. Devasree Chakravarti and Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam were the resource
persons. This workshop was sponsored
by Prof. C.B.S. Chauhan, Mr. Harish Kedia, and Mr. Singh of LG Service Centre,
Bilaspur.

Road
Show of British Council in Bilaspur: British Council in association
with ELT@I has planned to organize
series of workshop for Teachers of English throughout the country. They have
selected 12 different two tier/three tier cities to conduct the programme.
Moved by the activities of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter, the management of ELT@I decided
to organize one day workshop at Bilaspur. Delhi Public School, Bilaspur was
selected as the venue by the British Council. 10th December 2011 was the
historic day in the history of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter to organize this mega
event with nearly 300 teachers. A full day workshop on English Teaching
Techniques was conducted by the experts of British Council. Ms. Daphney Pawlec,
Ms. Poonam from British Council, Capt. S. Ray, the Principal of DPS, Dr. Prerna
Hiradhar, HOD, English of DPS, Mr. Shivaji Kushwaha, President of ELT@I and Dr.
Devasree Chakravarti, Secretary ELT@I were actively involved in making this
event historic and successful. ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter salutes the teachers who
have actively participated in the workshop. This was the only workshop organized
in the Hindi speaking states of India.

Bilaspur Chapter was instrumental in organizing Two Day National Conference at
Govt. M.L.S. College, Seeapt on 18th and 19th January
2012 on the theme “Colonial to Global: Changing Perspectives of English.” Our
esteemed members have been given important responsibilities to share in the
conference. Dr. Devasree Chakravarti compeered the Inaugural and Valedictory
sessions, Mr. Shivaji Kushwaha Co-ordinated Dr. A.K. Khare Memorial Lecture and
Dr. Arti Singh Thakur, Dr. Shrabani Chakravarty, Dr. Meeta Ajay, Khanna, Mrs.
Kamaljeet Sinha, Mr. Rakesh Digraskar and Ms. Padma Mani were the active
participants. ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter has decided to organize two memorial
lectures every year in the memory of Dr. A.K. Khare and Dr. Nirmaljeet Oberoi.

Day Seminar on “Communication Skills: A Gateway to the Global World” was
organized by Dr. C.V. Raman University, Kota, Bilaspur on 3rd
February 2012 in collaboration with ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter. Mr. Shivaji
Kushwaha, Dr. Prerna Hiradhar and Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam were the resource persons.
It is a matter of great pride and happiness that ELT@I is associated with
prestigious institutions to bring awareness among the teachers and learners of
English to make Chhattisgarh in general and Bilaspur in specific the hub of ELT
activities.

Day Workshop on “FOE: WHY DON’T YOU GO” was organized by ELT@I, Bilaspur
Chapter in collaboration with DKP Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Kota, Dist. Bilaspur
on 22nd February 2012 for the students. Dr. Fariha Alam
Siddiqui, SDM, Kota was the Chief Guest. Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam, Dr. Devasree
Chakravarti, Mr. Rakesh Digraskar, Mrs. Sumita Goel and Dr. Anil Mushriff were
the resource persons. Nearly 150 students and teachers of different schools
have actively participated in the workshop.

Felicitation
Ceremony of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter was organized on 26th Feb.
2012 to felicitate the Ph.D. awardees and the Convenor of the chapter Dr. G.A.
Ghanshyam, who has been recently appointed as the National Vice President of
ELT@I. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. (Brig) A.K. Sharma, Chief
Operating Officer of Apollo Hospitals, Bilaspur, Guest of Honour was Dr.
Gulshan Das, Retd. Professor of English and the session was chaired by Prof.
C.B.S. Chowhan, Patron of ELT@I, Bilaspur Chapter. The three Ph.D. awardees
were Dr. Aradhana Trivedi, Dr. Devasree Chakravarti and Dr. Arti Singh Thakur.

Dr.
G.A. Ghanshyam, Convenor, ELT@I, Bilaspur Chapter is always on his toes to
promote and organize various events/workshops/lectures/discussions related to
the development of English Language. He with his laptop, LCD Projector
and Waistband Amplifier has conducted many workshops in the schools of rural
areas of Bilaspur like Seepat, Pandhi, Bijor, Birkona, Takhatpur, Ratanpur, Belha
and Baloda on the topic “Why English”.
On
the topic “Colonial to Global: Changing Perspectives of English” Dr. Ghanshyam
has conducted workshops in Govt. Engineering College, Bilaspur, Govt. Girls’
Polytechnic College, Bilaspur, J.K. Engineering College, Gatora, C.M.D. P.G.
College, Bilaspur, D.P.V. College, Bilaspur, Govt. Science College, Bilaspur,
J.M.P. Govt. College, Takhatpur, Govt. College, Kawardha under the banner of
ELT@I.
Ø
In future too ELT@I will undertake many more activities/projects
for the betterment of our students and teachers. We do request the people of
Bilaspur to join hands with ELT@I to promote and propagate English Studies in
Chhattisgarh to make the state the hub of ELT.
