Report of the 39th Meeting of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter
WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS
Date: 15th June 2014
The 39th Meeting of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter was held at St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Vyapar Vihar, Bilaspur on 15th June 2014 at 5 pm. Eighteen members were present in the meeting. Dr. G. A. Ghanshyam, Convener of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter started the proceedings by presenting the minutes of the 38th meeting.
Later he informed the members about the workshop going to be conducted in Raipur on ELT and asked the members to take active part in it.
He informed the members about the sponsorship offered to Dr. Devasree Chakravarti by RELO to attend the 9th International Conference of ELTAI at Jaipur. Dr. Devasree was one among the three got selected out of all the chapters. All the members congratulated her on this great achievement.
As per the agenda of the meeting, the extempore speech session started. All the members were asked to take a slip from the bowl and were given three minutes to speak on the given subject. All the assembled members took active part in the extempore speech as the subjects given were of great interest. Mr. Bhupendra Shamra, Secretary of Bilaspur Chapter was the key person who took initiative in the selection of the topics.
Dr. Arti Singh Thakur the Chairperson of the meeting elaborated in detail about the various topics presented in the extempore speech. She thanked all the participants for taking active part in it.
As per the second agenda, the members who sent their abstract for the 9th International Conference of ELTAI to be held at Jaipur presented their abstracts.
The next meeting of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter will be held on 20th July 2014 at B-125, Rama Green City, Bilaspur (C.G.). In this meeting Dr. Preran Hiradhar and Dr. Devasree Chakravarti will present their presentation.
The meeting came to an end by thanking Mr. Aaditya Katare, Joint Secretary of the chapter for providing the wonderful venue for the meeting

Report of the 38th Meeting of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter
WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS
Date: 18th May 2014
The 38th Meeting of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter was held at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Ashok Nagar, Bilaspur on 18th May 2014 at 5 pm. Eighteen members were present in the meeting. Mr. Rakesh Dighraskar, Co-ordinator, ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter started the proceedings by asking the members to introduce themselves.
After the introduction of the members Mr. Bhupendra Sharma was invited to present his academic presentation on “Learning by Mistakes”. Mr. Bhupendra through power point presentation has narrated various mistakes that we commit in and outside the classroom. He categorized the mistakes under lexical, grammatical, fossilized and based on pronunciation. He pointed out that exposure; interaction and correct language form should be told to the students. He urged the teachers to be patient enough to listen to the mistakes committed by the learners and later on inform them how to correct the mistakes. He was of the opinion that the teachers of English must be updated enough to use the available technology in the class room and must teach English Language in through interactive method.
Mrs. Usha Iyengar, the Executive Member of the chapter was the second presenter of the academic session. Her topic was “Developing Listening Skills”. Through power point presentation and video clipping, story and activity she demonstrated the barriers in listening. She narrated that listening is the most important skill in learning any language and we never give importance to it. We value more on Writing, Reading and Speaking which is used only 9%, 16% and 30% respectively in our daily life. Whereas listening, which we never value captures 45% of our daily life. She described the process of listening in three stages; Receiving, Processing and Responding.  She gave tips to the teachers in the form of Do’s and Don’ts.
Dr. Arti Singh Thakur, Asst. Professor of English, Govt. Mata Shabri Girls’ College, Bilaspur,  Mr. Shailesh Mishra, Asst. Professor of English, Govt. College, Malkharoda and Mr. Akhilesh Pandey, Asst. Professor of English, G.B.V.P. Hardibazar acted as evaluators to evaluate the presentation of the presenters. Dr. G.A. Ghanshyam, National Vice President of ELTAI and Convener of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter acted as “Time Counter”.
After the academic session the decisions taken by the Executive Committee in the 36th meetings were discussed in the General Body meeting. Mr. Rakesh Dighraskar, Mr. Shivaji Kushwaha, Dr. Devasree Chakarvarti, Dr. Shrabani Chakravorty, Mrs. Usha Iyengar, Dr. Prerna Hiradhar took part in the healthy discussion. All the members present gave their consent to it and agreed to the decisions.
Dr. Shrabani Chakravorty, President of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter stressed on the need of developing human resource and urged the members to take active part in the academic sessions. She requested the members to work towards the betterment of the chapter to take it to greater heights.

Report of the 34th Meeting
The 34th Meeting of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter was organised at A-202, Ghanshyam Homes, Vyapar Vihar, Bilaspur (residence of Dr. Shrabani Chakravorty) on 18th April 2014. Twenty five members were present in the meeting. Dr. Ghanshyam GA, the Convener of Bilaspur Chapter presented the minutes of the previous meeting. 
Under the agenda of organising workshop, ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter got the offer to conduct workshop for teachers and students of Aadharshila Vidya Mandir, Bilaspur and unanimously it was decided to conduct the workshop for students and the teachers in the month of May and June respectively.
The next agenda was "Academic Presentation". Mr. Aaditya Katare, the Joint Secretary of the chapter presented a detailed description with facts and figures about the status of English in his presentation entitled "English as a Global Language". He gave a full length detail about the functioning and the significance of English in various countries of the world since its inception. 
Dr. Shrabani Chakravorty, the President of ELTAI Bilapsur Chapter in her presentation entitled "Public Speaking" narrated the nuances related to public speaking. She divided her presentation into three categories and elaborated each category in detail and presented the "Dos and Don'ts" of Public Speaking. She presented her thoughts on Public Speaking through Power Point Presentation. 
Dr. Manju Mitra, the Advisory Member of the Chapter and Mr. B.K. Patel acted as evaluators to evaluate the presentation. Mrs. Usha Iyengar acted as "Time Counter" and Mr. MK Sharma, the Vice President of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter acted as "Ah! Counter". Mr. B.K. Patel summarized the presentations.
ELTAI H.O. offered Bilaspur Chapter to nominate one member to represent the Chapter in the "National level two-day workshop on ‘Training the Trainers in Virtual Learning’.
The Chapter unanimously nominated Mr. Rakesh Dighraskar, the Co-ordinator of the chapter to represent the chapter in the National Workshop sponsored by IATEFL, UK.


The next meeting of ELTAI Bilaspur Chapter will be held on 23rd May 2014 at B-125, Rama Green City, Bilapsur. Mr. Bhupendra Sharma and Mrs. Usha Iyengar will be the presenters in the academic session.

The Meetings of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter was held on 4th August 2013 at the office, B-125, Rama Green City, Bilaspur (C.G) at 3.30 pm. 22 memberes were present in the meeting. 
The meeting started with the introduction of the members. Dr. Devasree Chakravarti, the Treasurer invited Mr. Madhu Kant Sharma to speak on the occasion. Mr. Sharma narrated the story of the evolution of Bilaspur Chapter and thanked all the members for their active support to ELT@I. He congratulated Dr. Ghanshyam, the Convener of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter and his family members for supporting and taking active part in ELT@I. 
























Mr. Rakesh Dighraskar discussed the agenda of the meeting. The members took active part in it. It was resolved that
1. ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter will organise Teacher Development Programme (Professional Dev. of the Teachers) every fortnightly.
2. Membership drive will be launched to enroll more members.
3. A workshop for teaches and students will be held by ELT@I at Mohanty English Medium School soon.
4. The members will work hard towards the development of ELT@I Bilaspur Chapter.
























Mr. Manoj Sanadya and Dr. Shrabani Chakroborty spoke about various activities of ELT@I and urged the members to take active part in the activities.
Dr. Prerna Hiradhar also put forth her point of view on this occasion. In the end "Friendship Day" was celebrated by the ELT@I members and the cake was cut for achieving the "Best Chapter Award."
Mr. Akhilesh Pandey concluded the meeting.
